The Blood of Dawnwalker will be a relatively compact game.

The developers of The Blood of Dawnwalker are gradually revealing details about the project. Recently, in a conversation with GamesRadar+, a representative of the Rebel Wolves team spoke about the approach to development and the scale of the game.

Senior Quest Designer Patryk Fialkowski said that The Blood of Dawnwalker is "not that big" and explained the approach:

"[The game is] dense, but we didn't want to make a 400-hour open world […] Compared to other large open worlds, it's not that much, but thanks to this [approach], we could give free rein to our imagination while working on the content. Quality over quantity — this helped us stay within the framework."

He also noted that from the very beginning of production, the developers had a clear vision — this was necessary, since The Blood of Dawnwalker uses a time limit. The main character will have 30 days in reserve:

"From the very beginning of development, we had a clear vision, and it was necessary, because, for example, to create a progression system [with a time limit], we needed an idea of a full-fledged game at an early stage. At least its skeleton, for example, the number of quests, how they interact with each other, what we can do with them.

Thanks to this, we understood that the scale of the game is, shall we say, reduced in comparison with large open worlds. And having this skeleton at an early stage gave us room for experimentation, layering additional layers and iterations."

The average playthrough will take about 40 hours of The Blood of Dawnwalker. The release is expected in 2026.
