The project was supposed to be a grand return for BioWare, but reality turned out differently. Even before the release, players criticized the studio's direction, and the launch confirmed their fears — interest in the game was weak, and fan reviews were mostly lukewarm.

The situation was not saved by the game's quick appearance on PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, which further impacted sales of physical and digital copies. Many felt that if you can play via subscription, buying the full version is pointless.

The story took an even more bizarre turn. Amazon Australia is giving away Dragon Age: The Veilguard for free — just buy one of over a thousand eligible items. The problem is that many buyers don't even want the "gift". On social media and forums, players are joking that they'd rather get nothing than such a bonus.

This is not the first attempt to sell off the surplus. Previously, in other regions, Amazon Prime gave away the game almost for free through return credits, and EB Games in Australia gave away Dragon Age: The Veilguard with the purchase of controllers.

It seems that publishers and retailers are desperately trying to get rid of the remaining copies.
