Recently, Ampere Analysis decided to study Steam games. During the study, analysts examined the price tags of 150 games with the highest MAU (monthly active audience) metric; Counter-Strike 2 was excluded from the sample.
As it turned out, gamers are mainly interested in relatively cheap games:
- 18% of the top 150 games by MAU cost $30-50
- only 3% of the games in the ranking cost more than $50
- about 55% of the most popular games cost no more than $20
