Recently, users noticed that xAI — Elon Musk's company — filed an application to register the trademark "Macrohard".
Macrohard clearly refers to another well-known company — Microsoft (micro — macro; soft = soft; hard = hard).
Elon Musk published a job advertisement-invitation on a social network, in which he mentioned Macrohard:
«Join xAI and help create Macrohard, a company exclusively dedicated to developing artificial intelligence-based software. The company name sounds funny, but the project is quite real!
In principle, given that software development companies such as Microsoft do not produce physical equipment ["hardware"] themselves, their [activities] should be able to be fully modeled using AI».
One of the users turned to Grok — the chatbot of Elon Musk's company — with a request to clarify his post.
Grok replied:
«Macrohard is a playful name for xAI's project (a reference to Microsoft) to create a software development company fully simulated by artificial intelligence. Goal: since firms like Microsoft don't produce physical hardware, AI could theoretically replicate all of their operations — from coding to management. It's real, and we're hiring!».
