Blogger EpicNNG reported that the game barely reaches 30 fps with several enemies on the screen and is accompanied by terrible input lag. The graphics look bad, as the rendering resolution is reduced to a minimum.
EpicNNG tested the build at Gamescom and noted that the graphics look extremely bad due to the minimum rendering resolution. Technical bugs, including lag spikes, interfered with aiming. It was impossible to play for long due to the unexpectedly poor experience.
"I think the claim that Borderlands 4 runs on Switch 2 is misleading. In my opinion, the game barely walks, let alone runs."
EpicNNG was not allowed to record or show footage of Borderlands 4 on Switch 2.
Rumor has it that the game runs much better on other platforms. At the same time, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford claims that Borderlands 4 is worth buying even for $350, and predicts sales of at least 6 million copies.
Borderlands 4 is scheduled for release on September 12, 2025 for consoles and PC. The release on Switch 2 is planned for October 3, 2025. Perhaps the developers will still have time to optimize it.
