Yohei Shimbori has announced that he will leave Bandai Namco Studios at the end of August 2025. His main contribution to the company was his work on Tekken 8, where he served as producer and assistant game director. Shimbori first announced his involvement in the project in December 2023.

"I will be leaving Bandai Namco Studio at the end of the month. During this time, I have been involved in various projects, especially Tekken 8, where I worked on elements outside of the core gameplay. I have received support from many people, including players. I want to express my sincere gratitude. Thank you so much!", he wrote on August 23 on X.

Before joining Bandai Namco, Shimbori worked at Koei Tecmo. He started as a tester for Dead or Alive: Ultimate, later became game director for Dead or Alive: Dimensions, all versions of Dead or Alive 5, and also game director and producer for Dead or Alive 6. He also participated in the creation of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, but his true passion has always been related to fighting games.

After leaving, the developer stated that he wants to "move more freely and take on new challenges." He has not yet revealed details, but noted that he intends to use his strengths and continue to delight players with new projects in the future.

It is not yet known whether Shimbori will become an independent author or join another studio, but it is clear that he will continue to make games. Given that many fighting game series have not received sequels for a long time, and the genre itself is experiencing a new rise, Shimbori has many areas where his experience will be in demand.
