Digital Foundry conducted a detailed analysis of the technical side. The results were surprising: instead of the expected leadership of Xbox Series X, the best platform for the game turned out to be PlayStation 5 Pro.
According to John Linneman, the Xbox version has a problem with VRR at 120 fps due to reduced performance. In 60 frames per second mode, all consoles maintain a stable level. But when choosing 120 fps, the PS5 Pro gained an advantage.
"PS5 Pro provides the best results," the expert emphasizes. On the console, the game at 60 fps runs in native 1620p resolution with upscaling to 4K, and at 120 fps it maintains 1440p - an indicator that competitors show only at 60 fps. The key was the use of PSSR technology from Sony instead of AMD FSR. "The combination of the best base and PSSR makes the picture on PS5 Pro noticeably better," Linneman explained.
He clarified that the PC version remains the most powerful. But among consoles, the conclusion is unambiguous: "PS5 Pro is the best system for Gears of War: Reloaded." The situation looks ironic: the main Xbox exclusive now looks brighter on PlayStation.
