The full specification of the portable PS6, codenamed Canis, has leaked online. If the data is correct, the project is complete, and the console may be in the final stages of preparation for mass production.
The leak comes from Moore's Law is Dead, a well-known insider associated with AMD and PlayStation. Previously, he was the first to reveal details about the PS5 Pro and PSSR technology, which were subsequently confirmed. This time, he shared complete information about the new console.
According to the source, the PS6 Canis is built on a new semi-custom AMD chip using TSMC's 3nm process. The processor includes 4 Zen 6c cores and 2 Zen 6LP cores with 4 MB L3 Cache, works with LPDDR5X-8533 memory, 192-bit bus, and supports up to 48 GB of RAM.
The graphics are provided by an integrated RDNA 5 with 16 CUs, operating at 1.2 GHz in portable mode and up to 1.65 GHz in dock mode. RDNA 5 promises a 40–50% performance increase in rasterization compared to RDNA 3.5 and a significant increase in ray tracing.
The Zen 6LP cores will only serve the PlayStation system, freeing up to 20% of power for the main CPU in games. Backwards compatibility with PS5 and PS4 is confirmed, but PS3 is not mentioned.
According to the insider, thanks to accelerated CUs and 60% more memory bandwidth, the PS6 Canis will easily outperform the Xbox Ally X in performance.
The release of the home PS6 is expected in late 2027 or 2028, and Canis will appear after the release of the main console.
