Actors from the cRPG Baldur’s Gate 3 continue to communicate with journalists. Recently, Jennifer English — the performer of the role of Shadowheart — in the VGC podcast spoke about how difficult it was for her before participating in the financially successful Larian project.
As it turned out, Jennifer English was threatened with moving to the street — there were a lot of debts: «Honestly, before Baldur's Gate 3, I had a lot of debts. Fortunately, I managed to get out of them, but yes, there was a moment when I couldn’t pay the rent... I think that’s why many actors, including those in the video game industry, come from wealthy families».
Alyona Baranova, who also worked on Baldur's Gate 3, also participated in the podcast. They came to the conclusion that without a second job or financial support from the family, it is difficult to work as a video game actor.
English called it a «truly class-based» reality, «because if you don’t have financial support from your family, how do you even do [acting]? Are you just driving yourself into debt?».
