Dave the Diver creators are working on three new projects
Mintrocket studio, owned by Nexon, is busy with three projects at once: one game in the Dave the Diver universe and two new products, one of which will be released on mobile devices.
Despite the desire to focus on new projects, Dave the Diver creator and director Jaeho Hwang remains closely involved with the series.
In an interview, Hwang said that Mintrocket employs about 60 people. Development is progressing slowly, but he is pleased that the company has retained an "indie approach." He combines the duties of a manager during the day and a game writer in the evening. Answering the question of what is closer to him, Hwang admitted that he prefers development to business.
Although he participates in all of the studio's projects, he cannot avoid managing the Dave the Diver brand.
"Dave the Diver was originally created by me, so I can't completely step away from management. But if I go too far, I will lose my freedom, and I am constantly thinking about where the boundary should be."
Hwang is glad that the game is turning into a franchise. The brand is popular in both the West and Asia, and there have already been collaborations with Balatro and Yakuza: Like A Dragon. Given that Nexon franchises rarely intersect with others, the developer hopes for further expansion of the brand.
