Pragmata is a new brand from the company, about which very little has been known for a long time. Based on the first trailers, fans put forward a theory that the game might be part of the old Mega Man franchise.
The reasons for the speculation were details: the blue suit of the heroine Diana, weapons resembling the Megabuster, items from the First Contact trailer, and the alleged connection of the Delphi corporation with Dr. Light.
The speculation reached the developers as well. Producer Naoto Oyama stated directly in an interview with Video Games Chronicle that Pragmata is not related to the Mega Man series in any way.
"Pragmata is not part of Mega Man. This is a completely new Capcom game. I was one of the producers of the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy collection, so it's nice to see that Mega Man fans are also showing interest in Pragmata. It is important to me that the players' attitude towards the project is so positive."
