After the successful Dragon Quest III HD-2D, it's time for a remake of the first two games. The developers are moving swiftly: two months before release, the project has achieved "gold" status. This means that the main work is completed, and the remaining time the team can devote to polishing or even start preparing for Dragon Quest IV.
The situation is also pleasing for another reason — currently, only the first three parts of the series are available outside of mobile devices. It is almost impossible to legally purchase the remaining games, so many are waiting for the continuation of the remake line.
Square Enix shared a photo where Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and producer Masaaki Hayasaka celebrated the completion of the project.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be released on October 30, 2025, on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
