Next month will be the release time for Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2, but it seems the game won't be the only one from Gearbox on the platform.
At Gamescom 2025, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford praised the new Nintendo console:
"Nintendo Switch 2 is an amazing, amazing machine. I am very grateful for it."
He noted that expectations for Nintendo are always high, as the company knows how to surprise with hardware. Pitchford believes that Switch 2 is "not so much about innovation as it is about improvement, releasing what works."
"I love my Switch and wanted a more powerful one with new games. Now I realize: \"Oh, it's not just the hardware, Nintendo has put a lot of effort into the software, and into ways to interact with players... It's exciting.\"
As a result, they decided to release Borderlands 4 on Switch 2. As for future Gearbox games, Pitchford is optimistic:
"I love Switch and Switch 2. We love creating games, entertaining people, and being on the platforms where we are wanted. Nintendo has just had the most successful launch of a new console in video game history, and it's unstoppable."
He confirmed that he wants to "bring more games to the platform," but added that "now is not the time to discuss future projects."
