Recently, the results of a study on the "barriers faced by women when playing video games" have appeared.

The authors note that despite the fact that games have traditionally been a male-dominated activity, about 51% of women now play in one capacity or another. However, they are "still less likely to play certain genres and often face discrimination."

As a result of a survey of 1,000 women in the UK who play mobile games, it was found that almost a third of them felt guilty for spending time playing games, and one in six kept their hobby a secret for fear of condemnation.

About 60% of respondents do not identify themselves as gamers, because they believe that they "do not play enough video games".
