Finnish studio Housemarque Games, known for Returnal, has reached a historic milestone — 30 years of operation. Founded in 1995 in Helsinki after the merger of Terramarque and Bloodhouse, the studio initially released games for Amiga and PC, and later for Xbox and PlayStation.
Over time, the connection with Sony became stronger, leading to official inclusion in PlayStation Studios in 2021.
To celebrate the anniversary, the studio released a video on X, in which brand director Mikael Haveri takes fans through the new offices. They are located in Helsinki and represent a qualitative leap compared to the previous location: for the first time, the entire team can work under one roof. The spacious and modern structure is designed not only for development but also for employee comfort: there is a gym, sauna, cinema, and even an internal bar, like in leading technology companies.
The new chapter coincides with an important creative stage. After the success of Returnal, Housemarque announced Saros — a new exclusive game for PS5, which has been in active production since 2022. The studio noted that the project is impossible without direct support from Sony.
Housemarque looks to the future with a solid foundation: a 30-year legacy, a modern headquarters, and an ambitious game.
