Greene was born on June 22, 1952, in Oshweken, Six Nations Reserve. Before becoming an actor, he worked in various fields, and in the 70s, he debuted on the stage of theaters in Canada and England. His first screen experience was the series "The Great Detective" (1979), and his film debut was "Running Brave" (1983). His breakthrough role came in the Oscar-winning western "Dances with Wolves" (1990), where he played Kicking Bird, for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor and opened the door to Hollywood.
