Nintendo has released a new update for Switch and Switch 2. Firmware version 20.4.0 has already begun rolling out to users of both systems.
The latest updates have mainly focused on stability, and this one is no exception. There are no new features for Switch 2 in it.
Nintendo's official patch notes look like this:
"Update 20.4.0 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
The notes are identical for both consoles, meaning the improvements work on both Switch and Switch 2.
Although the firmware updates are released without noticeable innovations, they appear regularly. The previous version, 20.3.0, was released about a month ago.
It is important to note that Nintendo's patch notes do not always reveal all the changes. Sometimes updates improve Switch 2's backward compatibility with games from the first console. For example, in mid-July, they fixed a list, including several major projects.
