The franchise could have gotten a sequel much earlier, but marketing professionals intervened.
Titan Quest 2 was released in early access in August 2025. However, according to a former THQ vice president, the sequel could have appeared 19 years ago.
Richard Browne shared his memories on a business social network. The original Titan Quest sold well, and the sequel was given the "green light," but the marketing department "didn't notice" the success of the first part.
As a result, marketers rejected the demo version of Titan Quest 2 for Xbox 360. Browne explained that the demo performed poorly in tests using Emsense (various indicators are measured, such as pulse and breathing, to assess the player's reaction to the project — the desired response could not be elicited).
Browne also noted that marketers did not like working with Iron Lore Entertainment studio founder and game designer Brian Sullivan:
"...they didn't like that the developer was not \"PR-friendly\" (Brian is a great guy, he was just one of those who wears khaki shorts, black socks, and loafers [shoes resembling moccasins], and that made their job difficult)."
