Apple is developing a new Vision Air headset, scheduled for launch in 2027. This is a more affordable and lighter version of Vision Pro, the price of which remains extremely high.
According to insiders, the cost of Vision Air will be about $1,750, which is almost half as much.
The model will be more than 40% lighter: its weight will be less than 450 grams. To do this, Apple will replace glass with plastic, titanium with a magnesium alloy, and also simplify the sensor system. These changes will reduce the cost and make the device more convenient for long-term use.
The main difference will affect the processor. Instead of M-series chips, Vision Air will receive A-series solutions used in the iPhone. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that by 2027, the headset will be able to run on the A21, manufactured using TSMC's 2nm process. Such a chip will provide a level of performance close to the older M, at a lower energy cost and reduced price.
Experts note that the latest generations of A processors have already come close to the capabilities of M, so Vision Air will maintain a balance of power, cost and energy efficiency. Mass production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, and the official premiere may take place at the end of the year, possibly simultaneously with the MacBook Pro OLED.
