The release version didn't particularly please many players.
The developers of Hitman are not only making a new game about James Bond 007 First Light, but also acted as a publisher. Through "IO Interactive Partners," they helped with the release of the highly anticipated MindsEye — a project by Leslie Benzies, ex-producer of Grand Theft Auto.
Recently, the head of IO Interactive, Hakan Abrak, spoke with IGN and explained that the company saw interesting ideas from the developers of MindsEye and wanted to help them with the publishing aspect.
The manager admitted that the resulting outcome was not what they expected at IOI. MindsEye turned out to be one of the biggest failures in recent times, with journalists and ordinary players alike tearing the novelty apart:
«Well, it was definitely [a bad reaction], wasn't it? The reception was bad. It's not what they hoped for, and not what we at IOI Partners were counting on either. They are trying their best to change the situation to regain the trust of gamers, and they have content with potential that they are working on. I hope they will be able to [fix the game] in the future.»
Now the future of the company's publishing direction is in question:
«So, IO Interactive will publish our games ourselves [like 007 First Light]. What about "IO Interactive Partners"? We'll see.»
