After several months of silence, rumors of a possible delay have resurfaced online. Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar developer who previously accurately predicted the first release date postponement, has responded to these reports.
On X, he called the recent publications "attention-seeking" and emphasized that the choice of May 2026 was deliberate. According to him, the final decision will be made five months before release, and all rumors before December are just attempts to attract attention.
The optimism is also supported by the words of Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick. In the spring, he stated that he is "very, very confident" that there will be no further delays. According to him, Rockstar knows how to meet the high expectations of players and sets the same goal for themselves when creating GTA 6.
As a reminder, GTA 6 was officially presented at the end of 2023, and the release was originally planned for 2025. In May of this year, Rockstar announced that GTA 6 will be released on May 26, 2026. Along with this, they showed a new trailer, revealed plot details, characters, and the map.
