The plot unfolds in 1993 and focuses on Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo). The heroes return to the world of fighting after Chun-Li (Callina Liang) invites them to participate in the World Warrior tournament. But the competition will turn out to be more than just a series of fights: behind it lies a conspiracy that will force the characters to face not only opponents, but also their own inner demons.
The cast is impressive. Jason Momoa will play Blanka, Roman Reigns will play Akuma, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson will play Balrog, Cody Rhodes will play Guile, David Dastmalchian will play M. Bison, and Orville Peck will appear as Vega. The film will also feature Olivier Richters (Zangief), Mel Jarnson (Cammy), Reina Vallandingham (Julia), and Vidyut Jammwal (Dhalsim), along with other classic fighters from the series.
The project's history began in 2023 when Legendary acquired the rights to the film adaptation. Initially, the Philippou brothers were supposed to be the directors, but they left the production in 2024 due to scheduling conflicts. In February 2025, Kitao Sakurai, known for "Bad Trip" and "The Eric Andre Show", took over the direction. Filming began in August 2025 in Australia.
