CD Projekt RED is currently working on two major projects simultaneously. In addition to The Witcher 4, a new game in the Cyberpunk universe is being created, internally referred to as Cyberpunk 2.
CD Projekt RED is preparing a new Cyberpunk game in parallel with The Witcher 4. For this purpose, a second large team has been formed in the USA, fully focused on the project. Previously, the game was known under the code name "Project Orion", the studio did not disclose the final name.
Now, judging by official materials, the developers have decided to change their strategy. They already mention "Cyberpunk 2", which may become the official name of the new story in Night City. This is a noticeable change in the studio's approach, which usually tries to keep such data secret for as long as possible.
The release of Cyberpunk 2 will have to wait a long time. Although work on the game has been going on for several months, the creation of such a large-scale AAA project may take five years or more. Players will have to be patient - the new story in Night City is unlikely to appear before the end of the decade.
