Classic Racing Games Are Fading Away: EA Prepares to Shut Down Servers for Old Hits
The era of several popular racing simulators is coming to an end. Electronic Arts has announced that in a few months, players will lose access to the online modes of four projects at once.
The company has expanded the list of games for which online function support will be discontinued. This time, it concerns projects released during the generation shift — when PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 were giving way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
On the official EA page, which records the "shutdown" dates for games, information appeared that on March 16, 2026, multiplayer capabilities will be closed for the following projects:
- Dirt Showdown
- Dirt 3
- Grid Autosport
- Grid 2
Players have about half a year left to make their last online races. After the specified date, they can only be played in offline mode.
