An enthusiast with the nickname Savoiskiy recently announced his mod-prequel for Mafia: Definitive Edition — in terms of chronology, it does not go far from the events of the original Mafia. The focus will be on the story of Sam and Paul, showing their work in the period from 1928 to 1930.
The author described the idea of the project "The Family Business (A story mod for Mafia DE)":
«The first chapter begins with the Don's request to pick up his nephew from the airport, and the last chapter ends with a failed deal with Morello's people, after which, during the chase, Sam and Paul run into taxi driver Tommy Angelo. While maintaining the canonicity of the main game, the main antagonist will not be Morello, but an Irish group that Salieri's people will have to fight in several missions. Thus, during the game you will meet both familiar and new characters; the storyline of Sam and Michelle's relationship will be revealed.»
Savoiskiy suggests watching a video walkthrough of the first mission «Welcome to Lost Heaven». The developer promises to present not only an English-language, but also a Russian-language version of the project.
