Hollow Knight: Silksong is being called one of the biggest indie games in history. Analyst Rhys Elliott from Alinea Analytics presented data confirming the huge success of the Team Cherry project.
According to his calculations, over 5 million people played the game in the first three days after release on all platforms, including Game Pass subscribers. In Steam alone, sales exceeded 3 million copies and brought developers millions of dollars in revenue.
This result is natural: Silksong was the most anticipated game of 2025 on Steam, being on the wishlist of 5.2 million users. The project set another record, entering the top 20 games with the largest number of simultaneous players in the history of the platform.
The analyst made interesting observations about the audience profile. Among buyers, 78% had previously played the first Hollow Knight, almost half turned out to be fans of Elden Ring, and a third have experience in Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
