Sony, in collaboration with AMD, is preparing a major upgrade for the PS5 Pro. The console will receive support for AMD FSR 4, which should significantly improve the quality of games on the more powerful version of the PlayStation 5.
According to recent leaks, the PS5 Pro will get support for AMD FSR 4 in early 2026. This was reported by the Moore’s Law is Dead channel, which has previously made reliable predictions about Sony's plans, including PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.
It is worth recalling that Mark Cerny, the chief architect of the PS5 Pro, previously stated that FSR 4 would appear on the console in 2026, but the exact date remained unknown. The new AMD technology promises not only a clearer image but also increased animation smoothness.
However, the PS5 Pro does not fully support RDNA 4 (FP8 is missing), so additional optimization will be required. Many games will also require updates, as the current version of PSSR does not allow for simple replacement at the system level.
