UFL, a free-to-play football simulator from Strikerz, was released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in December 2024, and will soon receive a PC version.

But the adaptation for Switch 2 has not yet begun. According to the studio's CEO, Evgeniy Nashilov, Strikerz applied for devkits back in March 2025, but have not yet received them.

At a closed presentation of UFL, Nashilov stated that Strikerz is just one of many studios around the world that Nintendo has not provided Switch 2 kits to. He noted:

«Currently, Nintendo is not providing devkits to free-to-play game developers. This is a global trend, and we have also fallen under it. As soon as we receive the device and start working with it, then, most likely, we will release a port for Switch 2».

A similar situation is observed in other studios. As Digital Foundry reported, many Gamescom 2025 participants confirmed that they do not have access to Switch 2 devkits. Nintendo recommended releasing games for Switch, which will then run on the new console via backward compatibility.

According to Wccftech, the company has become stricter in selecting projects, approving only those that are able to unlock the capabilities of Switch 2. Simple ports, even from long-time partners, do not receive automatic access to the device.
