It is alleged that the game is facing financial difficulties and may be canceled. In response, the studio stated that it does not comment on unverified reports, and emphasized that work on The Wolf Among Us 2 is continuing, and details will be published "at the appropriate time." In other words, the project has not been officially canceled.
The game was announced in 2019 and is being created by Telltale in collaboration with AdHoc Studio, which consists of former Telltale employees. There have been delays in the development process: the game disappeared from the 2023 plan, and was later postponed. In April 2024, Telltale showed footage from the production version, which confirms that work on the project is active, despite the lack of an official release date.
At the same time, staff reductions in 2023 affected employees working on the game, which explains why former employees may not have up-to-date information about the project.
