The developers of Heroes of Might & Magic Olden Era occasionally publish gameplay footage, and fans study the received materials. Recently, they decided to introduce one of the characters.
This time, the focus is on Martyr Tho:

Schismatics experimented with various methods of warfare, including transferring power through the heart of the summoner. Tho agreed to become this "weapon", destroying the bastion but sacrificing his life in the process. His bravery earned enough respect to be resurrected using a modified necromancer ritual that replaced his heart with an alchemical apparatus.
This was only partially successful: he found himself in a borderline state between life and death, and his soul was trapped in a body sustained by mercury.
