Football Manager 25 was unexpectedly canceled, and for the first time in many years, fans of the series were left without a new installment. But, contrary to expectations, this did not become a blow for Sports Interactive — the studio feels better than ever.
The developers are confident that the extra time will affect the quality. This can be verified on November 4, 2025, when Football Manager 26 is released, but there are already plenty of reasons for optimism.
In an interview, studio head Miles Jacobson noted that the franchise has never been so popular. More than 19 million people are involved in the series' games, with 7.5 million spending at least five hours in it.
FM24, available on PC, consoles, and mobile devices, has achieved impressive results thanks to Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, Apple Arcade, and Netflix subscriptions. The average playtime was 118 hours, and if you exclude those who quit after the first hour, the figure is even higher.
According to the studio, distribution through subscriptions did not reduce sales — on the contrary, revenues almost tripled.
Football Manager 26 will be released on November 4, 2025, on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and mobile devices, and will reach Nintendo Switch in December.
