Resident Evil: Requiem Quality Compromise for Price. Perhaps Capcom Has Come Up With an Unusual Solution

According to My Nintendo News, the Switch 2 version may be cheaper than on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. According to Amazon, the boxed edition (most likely in the form of a Game-Key Card) costs £60 in the UK, while the standard price of the game on other consoles is £70.

It is not yet known whether this is a deliberate move by Capcom or Nintendo, or whether this is just a temporary Amazon price. But if it persists, it could be a way to attract an audience to a version that will be inferior in graphics and performance to its competitors.

For Capcom, this looks like a way to compensate for the limitations of Switch 2. A more affordable price could attract players who would otherwise abandon the lower quality version. But it is worth considering that a large-scale cinematic story will attract many to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or PC editions, where graphics and image clarity are more important.

If Requiem really comes out cheaper on Switch 2, this could pave the way for similar solutions from other publishers - lowering the price in exchange for a compromise in quality.
