Recently, the Steam community's attention has been drawn to the game BlockBlasters. Hackers added a virus to it, which robbed players.

As far as is known, the attackers managed to steal about $150 in cryptocurrency through a vulnerability in BlockBlasters. Among the victims was a cancer-stricken streamer rastalandTV, who had over $30,000 in cryptocurrency stolen from him.

vx-underground spoke about the incident:

«Yesterday, a video game streamer with the nickname rastalandTV streamed live and fell victim to a crypto campaign.

This particular phishing campaign is extremely disgusting, as RastaLand suffers from stage 4 sarcoma and is actively collecting donations for cancer treatment. He lost $30,000 from the funds allocated for their treatment.

He was contacted by an unknown person and asked to play a demo version of their game (which can be downloaded on Steam). In exchange for RastaLand showing the demo on the stream, they promised to pay. Unfortunately, the game on Steam was actually a crypto scam».

Valve has already reacted and BlockBlasters has been removed from Steam. The project was distributed for free in the store since the summer of this year.
