Recently, the developers of the project "Vasilisa and Baba Yaga" announced a new game "Devil's Service". They decided to tell the story of a devil who is in the service of Peter the Great.
Some people had complaints about this concept. Deputy Anton Gorelkin shared reviews of this game that are sent to him:
"The video game "Devil's Service" from the St. Petersburg studio Baba Yaga Games has received its first critics. I received several messages in response: some people write that the story about a devil in the service of Peter the Great "discredits the historical image of the great Russian emperor", and another subscriber sees propaganda of Satanism* in all of this."
Gorelkin suggests waiting for the release of the project first and thinks that specialists should evaluate the content. He also recalled the preparation of a law to regulate the gaming industry - it assumes the possibility for citizens to initiate an examination of games:
"I believe that first you need to wait for the release of the game, and only then evaluate whether there is Satanism* or discrediting of anything there. Secondly, I am convinced that specialists should be engaged in grading. That is why our bill on the regulation of the video game industry contains a norm on the examination of games, which anyone can initiate. And already on its basis, it will be possible to influence the distribution of a product, for example, by adjusting the content labeling."
I expect that the State Duma will consider the bill before the end of the autumn session: its adoption will create transparent rules for the Russian video game industry and give society civilized tools to control the distribution of game content."
