Sometimes games on Steam can contain unpleasant surprises.
Valve recently removed the game BlockBlasters from Steam. Attackers embedded viral software into it, which stole cryptocurrency from gamers.
Steam community member ZenomniusOmnipotence was among those who managed to explore BlockBlasters. He received a warning from Valve — the company recommends checking the PC for viruses:
«We are contacting you because you recently launched BlockBlasters (3872350) on Steam. The developer account for this game on Steam uploaded builds to Steam that contained suspicious malware.
The infected build was uploaded on August 30, 2025 and removed on September 21, 2025. You played BlockBlasters (3872350) on Steam when these builds were active, so it is likely that these malicious files were run on your computer.
Builds containing suspicious malware have been removed from Steam, but we strongly recommend that you run a full system scan using an antivirus product that you trust or use regularly, and check your system for unexpected or recently installed software. You can also completely reformat your operating system to make sure that no malware remains on your computer».
