According to the producer, the project could either earn praise or receive criticism.
Konami believed in Silent Hill f, so Digital Deluxe Edition owners received early access, and journalists were allowed to publish reviews before the start of early access. The first scores confirmed the publisher's confidence.
The average score on Metacritic was 86 points, which puts the game on par with last year's remake of Silent Hill 2, with which it is already being compared.
Series producer Motoi Okumoto thanked the community on X:
"I am very happy that the game received 86 points on Metascore, the same as the Silent Hill 2 remake. I foresaw that the game would receive mixed reviews due to such complex aspects as the setting — Japan, the story written by Ryukishi-sensei, and the combat component of the game, but I am very grateful that the game received such high marks. Despite the mixed reviews, the story was well received by almost all media, so the decision to entrust its writing to Ryukishi-sensei was wise. I think this work can be recommended to both fans of Ryukishi-sensei and fans of Silent Hill."
