Not all of the developers' ideas made it to the release version. The community is trying to fix this.
Recently, modders from The Rockenbird Band presented an updated version of the remake Mafia 2 Final Cut 1.2.1. They are restoring cut content and implementing various improvements.
In the previous version 1.2, melee weapons were removed — with the release of 1.2.1, they return to the game.
Other changes and new features:
- Fixed "almost all errors and shortcomings that people complained about"
- Updated map that now looks like the one from Mafia 1
- New AI-generated voice acting in the missing moments of the game in Russian and English
- Beta menu
- Reduced ammo — now there is much less ammo
- New music on the radio
- Added winter decorations from the 2008 Christmas trailer
- Trees placed in beta positions in Lincoln Park
Cut locations:
- Diamond Motors — you can buy cars here
- Richard Beck Real Estate Agency — you can buy real estate
- Charlie's Bookmaker and Auto Repair Shop — not used in the game, you can only inspect the location
