Fans continue to wait. After the release of Final Fantasy I–VI Pixel Remastered, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, as well as the Final Fantasy X and XII HD collections, the ninth installment, along with the "thirteenth," remains without an update. The community persistently asks Square Enix to pay attention to this game, but the company remains silent.
Meanwhile, something unusual happened. Square Enix announced a collaboration with Magic: The Gathering. This will result in collectible cards based on the Final Fantasy series — starting with the seventh installment. At the same time, Wizards of the Coast clarified that cards related to Final Fantasy IX will be revealed separately by Square Enix as part of the surprises.
Fans took this post as a hint at a remake and began actively discussing it on social networks: "Our third Scene Box takes us to FF9 and the siege of Alexandria. If you're looking for cards, Square Enix will show them to you."
But instead of the long-awaited announcement, the company showed a set of cards. Magic: The Gathering – FINAL FANTASY will be released on December 5, 2025. It will include six Final Fantasy IX cards from the "Scene Box" set.
