At Tokyo Game Show 2025, Tomizawa shared that Bandai Namco continues to work on remasters to bring back lost games that millions of fans do not have access to. This is especially important in the anniversary year, when the series turns 30 years old.
But the process is complicated:
"We first need to find the original code and figure out who manages it. It's a bit awkward, as different studios have worked on the series over the years, and we first need to determine where the source data is located. When we find it, errors often occur that require months of analysis and correction."
Because of this, Bandai Namco is launching several remaster projects simultaneously to compensate for different production times. The team prioritizes based on speed of completion.
Tomizawa noted that it is preferable to release games in chronological order, but the priority now is a stable rhythm of remaster releases, starting with those that can be completed faster.
