Following the announcement of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, the Dynasty Warriors 25th Anniversary Producer Talk event took place, where viewers could ask questions about the future of the franchise.
Series producer Tomohiko Sho noted that there are currently no plans to remaster other installments. The decision to rework Dynasty Warriors 3 was made due to a large number of fan requests. According to him, the work turned out to be "extremely difficult."
Brand producer Akihiro Suzuki elaborated on this idea, emphasizing that "creating a remaster of a PS2-era game is incredibly expensive." For Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, the graphics were improved, the project was translated to Unreal Engine 5, and gameplay elements were reworked.
Sho emphasized that the fate of future remasters directly depends on the success of the updated third installment:
"If the game is not successful, there will be no next one, so we are counting on your support."
Although the series remains one of the best-selling in Koei Tecmo's portfolio and is especially popular in Japan and China, its position is weaker in the West. The developers hope that the improved version of the third installment and the success of Dynasty Warriors Origins will help attract a new audience.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will be released on March 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
