Sales of Digimon Story: Time Stranger have become a real surprise for Bandai Namco — pre-orders in Japan have significantly exceeded expectations.
The release of the new standalone game in the series, the first in ten years, is already near, and demand has been high. On September 30, publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that "due to high demand, physical copies may be limited in the first week after release." Fans are advised to pre-order in advance, otherwise there may be no copies left in stores at the start of sales. There are already reports from buyers that some stores are out of stock, while others are finding out that their orders will not arrive in time for the game's release. It seems that the popularity of the new Digimon RPG has exceeded the publisher's expectations.
The game was created by Media.Vision, known for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, and became the seventh main project in the Digimon Story subseries. Development took 7–8 years, and Time Stranger will offer the largest list of Digimon in the series — more than 450 characters. Digimon Story: Time Stranger will be released on October 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the Steam version will be released on October 3.
