"Sony? Definitely not Sony. Sony is a terrible company that is actually ruining the gaming industry. Look, games are moving to internet television. So think about all the players who will offer games in the same way we get movies on Netflix, and forget about subscriptions. Just think about iOS coming to your TV.
So, free games on your TV. Who will provide them? Cloud providers, artificial intelligence, anyone who invests in this idea — that's who you're looking for."
According to the analyst, Sony's mistake remains its focus on the mandatory presence of the PS5 instead of actively investing in cloud technologies. Despite the fact that the company was one of the first to launch PlayStation Now and today offers PlayStation Portal, its potential in the cloud, according to Pachter, has not been realized.
