In a regular Adrenalin 25.9.2 installation, there are two AFMF modes: Search Mode and Performance Mode. After adding PyTorch Preview, a Fast Motion Response switch appears with two settings: Repeat Frame and Blended Frame. The first repeats the previous frame to preserve quality, the second blends frames for smoother motion.
In practice, Repeat Frame reduces artifacts of aggressive interpolation (smearing, ghosting), while Blended Frame visually smooths the animation, although a slight blur may appear in very fast scenes. This differs from previous modes, which simply disabled frame generation during rapid movement, sacrificing smoothness for stability. Fast Motion Response solves this problem.
AMD has not yet disclosed details in the official Preview notes, but the goal is clear: to improve AFMF performance in dynamic scenes. While this is currently a feature for enthusiasts, it could become an important tool for gamers whose games often lose frames during rapid camera movements.
