Tabata confirmed the deal and expressed confidence in the future collaboration. He noted:
"JP UNIVERSE, where I am a representative, signed a partnership agreement with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Investment on September 24. As part of Vision 2030, we plan to develop original games for a global audience."
The developer emphasized that large game projects require effort but considers the new party a "reliable partner for serious work."
Under the agreement, SA GAMES studio has been established in Riyadh, which will become the main center of JP UNIVERSE in the Middle East. Preparations for the first project are already underway. Tabata thanked the Japanese Ministry of Economy, JETRO, the Center for Cooperation with Middle Eastern Countries, and the Japanese Embassy in Saudi Arabia for their assistance in launching the initiative.
Tabata is known as the head of Business Division 2 at Square Enix and a member of the Final Fantasy committee, which oversaw the development of the franchise. He left Luminous Productions and Square Enix in 2018 to pursue his own projects.
According to Tabata, the technology and experience formed the basis of the PEGASUS WORLD KIT engine, which is available to third-party companies. He emphasized that JP UNIVERSE's goal is to make the "world brighter and more creative through games."
