In the video, Jaffe discussed the updated subscription model: the cost of Game Pass Ultimate has increased from $20 to $30 per month. He acknowledged that this is a significant increase, but stated that he will not give up the service.
"We all expected prices to rise. Any subscription gets more expensive. Yes, this is a noticeable increase, but I will not cancel my subscription."
Jaffe explained that Game Pass saves money for active players. He compared the annual cost of the subscription to buying games that he has already played or was going to play:
"In total, it's about $700. Or you can pay for Game Pass — $360 a year, and still get dozens of other games that I would also play."
According to him, owning games doesn't matter to him.
"I understand that it is important for many to own the game, and I respect that. But I don't care. I'll play Ninja Gaiden 4 — and I won't come back to it again. Why do I need to keep the disc on the shelf?".
Jaffe added that for those who play several projects monthly, Game Pass remains an "amazingly profitable offer."
"I listed about twelve games — that's almost one new game per month, and a major one. Call of Duty, Ninja Gaiden and others. Yes, the price increase is unpleasant, but the benefit is still obvious."
In the end, the developer emphasized that his support for the service is not related to a desire to argue with the audience.
"I just think it's a great deal. I'm really interested in going to Game Pass and seeing what they add today."
