In an interview with DigiTimes, Chen noted that attention is currently focused on the impact of NVIDIA's investments in Intel's technologies on TSMC, but the real threat lies elsewhere — in managing an increasingly complex supply chain. The alliance of the two giants will force companies like Acer, MSI, and Gigabyte to simultaneously support three ecosystems: Intel, AMD, and the new Intel-NVIDIA hybrid solution.
The Acer CEO emphasized that the market is already overloaded with multiple generations of x86 processors, which complicates logic, planning, and product range. The emergence of another player will lead to increased costs, complicate production, logistics, and customer support.
It is not yet known when the first joint NVIDIA and Intel chips will be available for sale. According to preliminary estimates, they will be used in up to 150 million laptops per year, which could radically change the balance of power in the industry and test the resilience of manufacturers to the new realities of the market.
