RGG Studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama said that Yakuza franchise projects are checked very carefully:
«Due to the theme [of the game], we undergo 10-20 times more legal and ethical checks compared to a regular project. We have to be careful about everything»
After Yakuza's release on the international market, the peculiarities of the regions where the game will be sold must be taken into account during development:
«What seems acceptable to the Japanese may be completely unacceptable in another country, even if it's just one word in the script or a street sign reminiscent of some taboo. We need to coordinate all of this before we can release the project worldwide».
