As indicated on the EA Service Updates page, by the end of the month, FIFA 23 will lose all network functions on all platforms — PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This means the closure of Ultimate Team, Pro Clubs, and online co-op modes. After the servers are shut down, the game will only be available in offline mode.
The event symbolically draws a line under the partnership between EA and the FIFA organization, which ended immediately after the release of FIFA 23. Since then, the series continues to exist under a new name — EA Sports FC.
Amid the server shutdowns, rumors have emerged that 2K Games may obtain the FIFA license and release its own football game. EA stated that they are "happy to see the competition" and understand "how difficult it is to create a truly good football game."
FIFA 23 will forever remain the last installment of the classic EA football series, marking the end of an era that lasted more than three decades.
