Neil Newbon, who played Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3, continues to talk about his work. He recently spoke at TEDx Talks.
The actor shared that at one time he was in high demand and often got roles and "didn't worry about anything", "tried to play what I thought they wanted, instead of listening to my intuition, which I had been guided by for so long. I also began to realize that I was being pigeonholed."
Over time, popularity began to decline and it was not possible to find a new job, debt accumulated:
"I had a debt of £34,000 [about 3.7 million rubles], and I was living in a terrible state. Things were going very badly."
Then Newbon saw a photo of work with motion capture technology. He himself is a gamer, and he wanted to try his hand in this field.
His friends and colleagues did not believe in the success of the venture, but the actor did not give up, but trusted his intuition:
"No one believed in it. Former friends, lovers, agents, even some family members. They just thought it was a bad idea. However, my intuition, which I had lost long ago, returned and told me that this was the right path... I would say that motion capture technology - without further ado - saved my life. But more than that, it gave me a new life."
