The sequel to Obsidian Entertainment's 2019 role-playing hit, The Outer Worlds 2, is coming soon. Players on Xbox Series X/S and PC (via the Microsoft Store) can now begin preloading.
According to XboxEra, the game takes up about 79.5 GB on the console and 77.3 GB on PC, although the Steam version is listed as approximately 110 GB, so the final size may be larger.
Although the studio has not yet confirmed that the project has "gone gold", everything indicates that the release will take place on October 29, 2025.
In The Outer Worlds 2, players will take on the role of an agent of the Earth Directorate, sent to the Arcadia system to study dangerous rifts. Along the way, they will encounter three new factions — Auntie’s Choice, The Order of the Ascendant, and The Protectorate. The player's decisions will determine whether they become allies or enemies.
The sequel will offer new companions with their own stories who do not always approve of the player's choices, as well as larger worlds. The first major biome — Paradise Island — is designed for at least a dozen hours of exploration if you study everything thoughtfully. Obsidian promises more freedom in completing tasks and a variety of ways to solve them.
